Social Impact Initiative Universal Solar Battery Charging Hub for Rural Communities

Empowering Rural Areas with a Solar-Powered Battery Charging Hub

Executive Summary:

Bangladesh possesses a tremendous potential to harness solar energy, benefiting from 4-5 hours of daily sunshine and around 300 days of annual sunlight. Presently, solar energy is predominantly utilized for household purposes, small businesses, and limited applications like irrigation and fish drying. However, the lack of commercial utilization has constrained its full potential. By embracing commercial solar applications, Bangladesh stands on the cusp of a revolutionary energy transformation.

In this context, the surge in electric vehicles becomes increasingly evident, with electric three-wheeler rickshaws, easy bikes, and charging motorbikes gaining popularity each passing day. Additionally, batteries serve various needs, such as providing power backup (IPS) and operating machinery. Unfortunately, the prevailing system relies on electricity to charge these batteries, leading to an overload on the grid due to illegal connections and exacerbating load shedding issues. This situation has prompted the government to crack down on electric auto rickshaws, inadvertently contributing to unemployment.

Our proposed solution revolves around a socially responsible business plan: a Universal Solar Battery Charging Station, designed to charge batteries using solar energy in a commercial setting.

The following flow chart illustrates the workings of the Universal Battery Charging Solar Station:

The primary aim of this station is to leverage natural power for charging batteries, curbing the use of illegal connections, and offering a reliable power source during national grid faults and load shedding. Moreover, this setup ensures cost-effectiveness by charging batteries at a nominal fee. Additionally, it saves valuable time for electric vehicle owners during the charging process.
